Carpet Care Guide

Taking proper care of your carpet will help maintain its appearance, extend its lifespan, and keep it looking fresh and clean. Follow these guidelines to ensure your carpet stays in excellent condition.

Regular Vacuuming

Vacuum your carpet regularly, at least once or twice a week, to remove loose dirt, dust, and debris. Pay extra attention to high-traffic areas and use attachments to clean corners, edges, and upholstery.

Prompt Spill and Stain Treatment

Act quickly when spills occur to prevent stains from setting. Blot spills with a clean cloth or paper towel, avoiding rubbing which may spread the stain. Use a mild carpet cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar to treat stains gently. Test any cleaning solution on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it doesn't damage or discolor the carpet.

Professional Cleaning

Schedule professional carpet cleaning every 12-18 months, or as recommended by the carpet manufacturer. Professional cleaners have specialized equipment and expertise to deep clean and remove embedded dirt and stains. Regular professional cleaning helps revitalise the carpet fibers and maintain their overall condition.

Preventive Measures

Place doormats at entry points to trap dirt and prevent it from spreading onto the carpet. Encourage family members and guests to remove their shoes before walking on the carpet. Additionally, consider using area rugs or runners in high-traffic areas to protect the carpet from excessive wear.

Furniture and Weight

Distribution Rearrange furniture periodically to avoid permanent indentations on the carpet. Use furniture coasters or pads under the legs of heavy furniture to distribute weight more evenly and reduce pressure on specific areas.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals and Sharp Objects

Avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals or abrasive scrub brushes on your carpet, as they can damage the fibers. Also, be cautious with sharp objects or heels that could snag or tear the carpet.

Regular Carpet Rotation

Rotate area rugs or movable carpets to minimize uneven wear and fading. This helps distribute foot traffic and sunlight exposure across the carpet more evenly.
